Volunteers Wanted!

Are you interested in local history? 

Do you like working with  children and families? 

Do  you have stories of the community to share? 

Do you have craft skills that you are interested in demonstrating? 

Do you have a few hours a month to spare? 

We are building a community of volunteers/members and staff to bring the rich collections and archives of the museum to life. The story we want to tell in the museum is your story. We are all part of Cornwall.

Volunteer Positions

  • Helping with activities for families every  Sunday afternoon. *
  • Once a week helping with an after-school drop-in programme for children (from September 2012)*
  • Helping with school party visits.*
  • Greeting visitors at the door / volunteer  recruitment and newsletter
  • Helping with occasional teas for the public
  • Demonstrating crafts
  • Researching recipes and how food was prepared in the past
  • Telling stories from the past in the Cornwall region.

*a police check is required for these positions if 16 years or older.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Bi-annual recognition parties
  • Regular behind the scenes training and information sessions
  • A chance to take an active part in preserving Cornwall’s past
  • Free membership of the Museum
