Spinning Yarns

Claudette Voët with workshop participants

This workshop took place Saturday, October 27.

There are more ways to spin a yarn than you imagine.  On October 27, during a full workshop at the Cornwall Community Museum, local expert Claudette Voët led participants through the various steps of creating yarn from sheep to socks.   She showed how to prepare wool, what natural dyes come from what plant or animal and took everyone through the steps for spinning, carding, and felting.  They all went home with their own handspun yarn, more wool, felted items and many ideas for continuing their new craft.
