Artifact of the Week. Delivery Bike, Dalbec Cycle Sport Shop.

 

scan0001A delivery bike from Jock Dalbec Cycle and Sport Shop, Cornwall, Ontario.  These bicycles were familiar in Quebec, but not usually used in Ontario.  Donated to the Museum by the Dalbec Family.scan0002

 

Jock (Gerard) Dalbec opened his first sporting goods store in Cornwall at 7 Marlborough Street S., in 1937 with his brother-in-law.  He moved around Cornwall’s East End to numerous locations and ended at 305 McConnell Ave.  Conrad Poirier acquired the business in the mid ’80s.  It closed soon after.scan0003
