Photograph of the Week – Merkle Home, Aultsville, ca. 1860.

scan0001

A tintype ca. 1860 depicting what I believe to be the Merkle Home in old Aultsville.  Constructed in 1818 the house was moved by brick by brick (60,000 of them) and rebuilt on Highway 2.

This tintype measuring 21.5 cm x 16 cm was donated by Clay Benson from Port Hope.
