In 1988 reporter Michael Hebert for the “Standard-Freeholder” wrote:

The Eastcourt Mall has seen several changes since it became the city’s first such shopping mall back in 1969.

The most recent addition at Eastcourt it the newly-built Brewers Retail Outlet Cornwall, replacing the one which operated in McConnell Ave…

A Loblaws supermarket at the west end and Zellers at the opposite end, serve as the major anchors with banking facilities supplied by the Royal Bank.  The mall itself contains a pharmacy, restaurant and several other retail outlets…

Located close by are, McDonald’s restaurant, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Tim Horton’s Donuts, Mac’s Milk and Rona Hardware Store.

The mall underwent some exterior renovation a few years ago and it is constantly being updated to enure the best of services.  It also operates along the 12 month promotional scheme, incorporating special days like St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine Day or Mother’s Day…

Recent apartment developments in the area, as well as new streets leading to Marleau Ave., have meant more potential customers for the mall which is enjoying its 17th year of operations.
