Artifact of the Week. Monroe Medal – Central Public School, Cornwall.

This first prize sterling silver Monroe Medal was presented to Central Public School student, Isabel Fawthrop for British and Canadian History in 1935.

The medal was donated to the Cornwall Community Museum in 2008 by the medal’s recipient Isabel Fawthrop.

Central’s name was not changed until East and West Front Schools opened.  Central or Public School also served as Cornwall’s Model or teaching school.
