Artifact of the Week. oil painting for TENASCO cord, a product of Courtaulds, 1955.


The original oil painting by Montreal artist F. Arbuckle for a Courtaulds print ad promoting TENACSO tire CORD, in 1955.

Courtaulds advertised that Smith Transport’s trucks travelled 25,000,000 a miles a year with TENASCO cord.  They estimated that in 1955 that “…90% of all passenger and heavy dry truck tires is made with Courtaulds’ TENASCO tire yarn.

Donated to the museum in 2008 by Ransom Ledoux.

  1. My father worked at Courtauld’s from the mid 50’s until he was laid off from there in the late 60’s.
