Glengarry Postal History. stampless cover Alexandria to South Branch (Williamstown), Canada West, May 1862.,

scan0095

As viewers enjoyed the first stampless cover posted, I have placed this one on the blog to Miss Anne McLellan, South Branch (Williamstown), Canada West.  Sent from Alexandria on May 13, 1862, then to Lancaster on May 19th (postmark on the back) and finally Williamstown on May 20th.

If the writing above the PAID says “haste” I would not like to think how long slow mail might take.

This is an example of the regional postal history in the archives at the Cornwall Community Museum.
