Artifact of the Week – Lochiel Picnic Souvenir Pin 1923

This small pin is a souvenir of the August 15, 1923 Lochiel Picnic; Fr. Ewen Macdonald’s photo is featured on the pin.

Rev. Fr. Ewen J. Macdonald (1883-1972) served as Chaplain in France in both World Wars. The Catholic priest compiled a huge collection of historical and genealogical documents pertaining to Glengarry County; the collection is now housed in the Ontario Archives.

This is one of many artifacts housed in the S.D. & G. Historical Society Archives at the Cornwall Community Museum.
