Photos of the Week – Cornwall Bell Operators

Recently Mrs. Thelma Doyle of Apple Hill visited the Museum and Archives, bringing with her a donation of photographs from her time as a telephone operator at Bell Canada’s Cornwall operation at 249 Pitt Street.

The first two photos are of the staff at the 1952 Christmas Party.

At the Museum we have a clean copy of this photo (without the numbers.) Ask us about it if interested.

The final photo was taken at the staff 1954 Christmas Party.

That site later became home to Carl McLauglin’s used furniture business, KCK Enterprises. In recent years a developer put forth the idea of creating a hotel on that site and funds were granted under Heart of the City to assist with design drawings required for building permits.

Here, in the same order, are the names from the photo backs.
