Artifact of the Week. Two recent Quilt donations.

This quilt is actually two quilts in one.  The bottom photograph is of the original handstitched crazy quilt, circa 1930; some 20 years later the newer quilt was machine sewn onto the back of the quilt.  Stormont County.

I am sure that quilters would have a better name for this quilt, but lacking quit imagination I am just calling it a “square suit” quilt, as it is made of squares from what appears to be men’s suit cloth.  Perth County, circa. 1920.  Backed on red flannel.

Both quilts were recently donated to the Cornwall Community Museum by Sandra Bowness.
