Fenian Raid medal for veteran Sir James Pliny Whitney.

Morrisburg, 8 July 1898.

Dear Judge Pringle

I enclosed my application duty completed except as to the time of our service in 1866.

Perhaps you may be able to fill in the dates of the calling and of the Company as well as the date of our being relieved for service.  I am much obliged for the trouble you have take in the matter.

This letter requested a Canada General Service medal with the 1866 clasp for the Fenian Raids was donated to the Museum in 1964.

A silk ribbon promoting a political demonstration in favour of Premier Whitney.  Whitney served as MPP for Dundas Co. from 1887 to 1915 and Ontario’s Premier from 1905 to 1915.  The museum was given this ribbon in 2008.

The Canadian General Service Medal with the 1870 Fenian Raid clasp.  This medal was awarded to Private N. Bride of the 59th Bn Stormont and Glengarry.

The clasp and were issued in 1899.  210 local men were eligible.

Whitney was asking for the 1866 Fenian Clasp.

This medal was donated to the Museum in 1986.
